As long as we can remember, Batu Caves is not an alien place to us. The place is just a stone away from my own place. Yet, I never been there for Thaipusam! Ever!

The story here, is more to share my very first time experience. To see what was actually happening right in front on my eyes.

The feeling was so hard to describe, but it was totally new for me and shooting was not the only thing I learned that day. It was more than that.

To shoot the culture means to explore the culture that is to understand them even deeper. It’ll give you some feelings.

Some devotees are walking in various way, stepping on the tray of broken glasses, smoking cigars & bearing the milk pots with the metal hook at the back of the body.

FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

My clients know how much I love to talk about wedding. The prep, the details, the dress, the make up, the hair do and the list go on and on and on!

Some simple tips on the dos & dont’s for your wedding day.

1. Choose the dress or baju kurung or baju kebaya that suits your body – it is a big thing to find them!
2. If you plan to have bridesmaid on your wedding day, please do not make them look ugly.
3. The color for your wedding day is always your choice, but if you are wearing white on your akad nikah, the guests should not wear white darling!
4. For the groom, no hair cut on the day before! Big NO!
5. Lovely bride, please do not have your facial treatment on the day before.
6. Shoes! Shoes! Shoes! you will be walking & standing the whole day honey, make sure they are at your most comfy.
7. It’s your day, be happy! BUT do not go beyond fun for the bride. Behave and be lovely!
8. It’s the BIG day, just be yourself. Look like what you love to look like and portray the glamour version of yourself!
9. Feel good, love yourself. Walking with the best feeling and no matter what you wear, you are the most beautiful!
10. Enjoy the day, let it flow. The day will be perfect on it’s own!

BEING REALISTIC

After almost a month! As always, we always have new year resolution. The last time I make it official to have one when I was in the uni days and after that I gave up! It wasn’t realistic to my capacity. I have a new resolution almost everyday!

I am introducing a new category here.

Each day we read, we see, we chat, we admire, we talk to ourselves. If only there is a scanner that can scan what’s in our mind EACH day, it’ll need to be replaced every 2 days! (exaggerated!)

I’ll share with you something from my analog device that I’ve been keeping with me for quite sometimes in my next post very soon!

SARA NUR IMAN – MAJLIS AQIQAH

I bumped into Shaz when we were having lunch at the same restaurant sometimes in the end of 2010. I just realised how time flies very fast when I received a text message recently from her asking me to come & shoot for the majlis aqiqah for her newborn baby girl.  Her third beautiful baby with darling hubby named Sara Nur Iman. Such a beautiful name.

As I get in the house there were a beautifully decorated cradle for baby Sara in the middle of the house. It was very simple & sweet with some roses & bird-cage hanging look like a mini fantasy garden.

Baby Sara was asleep and being in her own world even when her mother was placing her in the cradle and throughout the marhaban recital and the cutting hair ceremony.

The marhaban group of lovely ladies plays very beautiful music with great vocal. Four of them plays drums & kompang. We were all amazed by the way they perform and delivering the stories from the Quran.

Baby Sara was so good being in the wrap of her mother’s arms and just sleep throughout the ceremony and not even a move when the marhaban group performing. She was so cute when refuse to be fed with honey & tamar even with the eyes closed!

Little Ali, his fabulous granny Datin Laila call him kampung boy! He greeted me with his cute smile when I arrived. I was told, he loves to run around the house bare feet! Almost I didn’t recognise him when the last time I was there, Ali was the one they celebrated with his aqiqah.

It’s foodie time! The food like always, was brilliant! There were roasted lamb, various types of yummy dishes, rice, stall of char kuey teow, satay & kabab. I was full for so many rounds!

Kids just want to have fun! Soraya & cousin sister was having great time in the midst of balloons! I want that too!

Thank you to Shaz & Ashura for having me again and to be in front of my lens with the rest of the family and friends. With the great food and the lovely day to celebrate another love of their life.
